Hi folks, Hewy here. (Now that I've started a blog, I realise what's been missing in my life all this time...) As a wind player, and one that dabbles in Irish music and the tin whistle, I've decided to research and build a whistle, or more likely a series of whistles. It has been very easy to find different plans and processes for building rather simple but apparently effective whistles. The image above is of the plan that I will likely use to build my first attempt at a whistle, although the web page / e-book that the plan is from gives many different options for customising a whistle based on this (and other) plans. This seems great to me, as I have never found a tin whistle that I have felt completely comfortable with, particularly with regards to the balance between volume, tone and intonation.
